When he first signed up for a short-term mission trip to Ireland in 2004, Ludie Creech never imagined that he was embarking on a journey that would forever transform his life.
The exposure to the country, the people, and the distinct needs left a lasting impact on Ludie and prompted him to return again the following year with another team. At the end of this second trip in Ireland, both he and his wife sensed God’s strong calling to further pursue missions. Although they weren’t sure where the path would lead, they took a bold step of faith, trusting that God would open the necessary doors.
Now, as the partnership director for OM Ireland, Ludie says he has witnessed first-hand the incredible power of the gospel in the lives of the Irish people.
“There are towns of thousands of people with zero gospel witness and we believe the local church is God’s strategy for carrying out the Great Commission,” Ludie said.
Perhaps one of the most unique ways that God is using the OM Ireland team is through a ministry project known as “The Big Red Bus.” Traveling throughout the country, this vintage double-decker bus partners with local churches and communities to provide activities, entertainment, and opportunities to hear the gospel message.
The team also offers evangelism training, short-term trips through Impact Ireland, youth programs, and creative arts projects.
Like any ministry that seeks to bring lasting impact to the local community, OM Ireland depends on the commitment and responsiveness of volunteers.
“It’s not meant to be just one person taking on the world, it’s meant to be a community of believers reaching out to those around them,” he explained.
Whether through local outreach, church planting, or missionary training, the OM Ireland team is meeting needs and touching lives of people in one of the most unreached nations of the world.
